‘VOICES OF LOS ANGELES’ BRINGS FOUR NEW CELEBRITY WELCOME MESSAGES TO LAX
(Los Angeles, CA) Four new famous voices are now greeting guests at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), welcoming travelers to Los Angeles as the latest in the airport's "Voices of Los Angeles" project.

In July, LAX launched “Voices of Los Angeles,” playing recorded messages from iconic local figures who reflect the diversity, creativity and wow-factor you can only find in the City of Angels.

ANOTHER EXTREMELY BUSY EVENING FOR LAX ON THE FINAL DAY OF THANKSGIVING PEAK TRAVEL
(Los Angeles, CA) The Thanksgiving travel season for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), which ends on Tuesday, is officially one of the busiest on record. LAWA officials continue to urge travelers to plan for extra time at the airport today given the high volume of travelers. Today’s passenger volume is expected to be on par with yesterday’s, with nearly 250,000 travelers forecasted. Peak travel times today will also rival those of yesterday, when more than 90,000 people, the capacity of the Rose Bowl, came through LAX in just a five-hour period. Today’s “super peak” is expected between 5-9 p.m.

LOS ANGELES WORLD AIRPORTS ANNOUNCES CEO DEPARTURE IN MARCH 2020
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today announced that CEO Deborah Flint has accepted an offer to serve as President and CEO of the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which operates Toronto Pearson Airport, effective March 2020. The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners will be conducting an international search for a new CEO.

LAX ANTICIPATES ANOTHER RECORD-BREAKING THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY AND REMINDS GUESTS TO PLAN FOR EXTRA TIME AT THE AIRPORT
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is forecasting another record-setting Thanksgiving holiday travel period this year, with an estimated 3.21 million passengers during the 14 days surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. That is roughly equivalent to 80% of the entire population of Los Angeles projected to travel through LAX this Thanksgiving holiday. Last year saw long lines and backed up traffic during peak days, and with more people expected and the addition of construction, this year is expected to be no different. It is vital for travelers to plan ahead and understand the new reality of how construction and record crowds will create challenging conditions at the nation's second-busiest airport this holiday season.

HIRELAX REGISTRATION NOW OPEN, ORIENTATION TO BE HELD DECEMBER 14
(Los Angeles, CA) Officials with the HireLAX Apprenticeship Readiness Program announced that registration is now open for the program's seventh class. A mandatory orientation event will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Dec. 14, at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC). Those who are selected for the program will begin class early next year.

ISLAND WIDENING TO CLOSE OUTER CURB AT TOM BRADLEY TERMINAL, REQUIRE OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES

To accommodate additional pedestrians during Automated People Mover-related construction in front of the Tom Bradley International Terminal, the outer commercial island will be widened by 6 feet. The inner lanes and right-most pickup lane will be closed overnight, with LAWA shuttles pushed to the outer lanes and stops closed during those limited hours. The island and pickup points will be closed for the duration of the work.

SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN WAIT TIMES AND 50% EXPANSION MARK THE FIRST WEEK OF LAX-IT

(Los Angeles, CA) Yesterday morning, Los Angeles World Airports opened the expansion to LAX-it ahead of schedule, at about 2 a.m., providing additional capacity for taxis and ride app passengers and drivers. Throughout the day, wait times were minimal, with guests waiting on average 0-5 minutes for their taxi, Uber or Lyft ride. Traffic on surrounding streets has flowed smoothly throughout the day as well.

LAX HOSTS MORE THAN 1,000 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR ANNUAL AVIATION CAREER DAY
(Los Angeles, CA) On Wednesday morning, more than 1,000 students were welcomed by professionals in aviation, construction, public safety and other industries for LAX's Fourth Annual Aviation Career Day. Held just south of LAX's 25L/7R runway at the Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, the event featured a wide variety of exhibiting employers and two panel discussions, taking place next to two Boeing 787 Dreamliners and one Airbus 350, provided by United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, respectively. Students were welcomed from 16 Los Angeles-area high schools, many that are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
