LAX Unveils Its First Augmented Reality Wall
(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) debuted its first use of augmented reality (AR) technology, a next-generation application of virtual reality. AR allows visible reality, such as that seen through a smartphone camera, to be augmented by objects or interactive imagery rendered within the guest's view. In Tom Bradley International Terminal, LAX staff joined with software developer Trigger to unveil an AR rendering of the forthcoming Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC).

Los Angeles City Council Approves $2B ConRAC Contract
(Los Angeles, CA) The Los Angeles City Council today voted unanimously to approve a 28-year not-to-exceed $2,028,302,301 contract with L.A. Gateway Partners (LAGP) to design, build, finance, operate, and maintain (DBFOM) the Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) Facility at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The item previously was heard at Los Angeles City Council’s Trade, Travel and Tourism (TTT) Committee meeting on Oct. 30, where it was recommended for City Council approval.

Moody's Upgrades LAX's Senior Lien Credit Rating
(Los Angeles, CA) This week, Moody’s Investors Service announced that they have upgraded the credit rating for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAX’s $3.4B in outstanding Senior Revenue Bonds were upgraded to Aa2 from Aa3, and the $2.7B in outstanding Subordinate Revenue Bonds (in addition to the bonds expected to price next week) were upgraded to Aa3 from A1. Moody’s also maintained the outlook for LAWA as stable. High ratings are generally a factor in lowering borrowing costs for issuers.

Solar Energy Projects Take Flight at Van Nuys Airport
(Van Nuys, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today joined with local elected leaders and aviation executives to further embrace sustainable energy with the announcement of solar power generation at Van Nuys general aviation Airport (VNY). VNY business tenant Aeroplex/Aerolease Group showcased the recent operational launch of its solar rooftop and canopy installation — a first at VNY – and six other business tenants also unveiled solar energy project commitments. This is the first installment of solar power generation at a LAWA airport, with future projects projected to come online, pending regulatory approvals. Upon completion of all seven projects presented today, VNY will become one of California’s leading general aviation airports for solar energy production.

American Airlines, Los Angeles World Airports Break Ground on $1.6B Reimagining of Terminals 4 and 5 at LAX
(Los Angeles, CA) Today, American Airlines and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) officially broke ground on a $1.6 billion modernization project to fully reimagine Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Terminals 4 and 5. The project marks American's largest investment at a single airport in American’s 92-year history and reaffirms the airline’s commitment to Los Angeles. At the end of the modernization program, LAWA will reimburse American Airlines for the majority of the work as part of its lease agreement.
