(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), announces two new art installations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) featuring works by Los Angeles-based artists that reference physical and fantastical landscapes.    

(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), in partnership with the Otis College of Art and Design, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil original art and design work created by recent Otis College graduates for the Summer Selfie campaign, "100percentLA," at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).      

(Los Angeles, CA) – Los Angeles International Airport's (LAX's) annual Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy kicked off this week for nearly 40 students participating in a week-long tour of two airports and exposure to more than 150 aviation-related career paths. The program started on Monday for middle school students at City of Los Angeles Fire Station 5, and will last for one week. The program for high school students begins next Monday, June 25.

(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) joined with United Airlines to welcome thirteen middle and high school students and their chaperones from Humboldt County to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) yesterday.  Upon their arrival, United staff members took the students on a tour of the airfield and explained how passenger luggage is handled, sorted and assigned to specific baggage claim areas.  During the tour, workers emphasized the company's focus on employee professionalism, timeliness and following safety procedures at all times.  From there, the tour continued into United's Station Operations Control where flights are managed and coordinated to ensure timely departures.  Students toured the Emergency Operations Center where the airline handles crises, and the group also learned about different career options in the Aviation industry.

(Los Angeles, CA) – Small Business Enterprises (SBEs), Local Business Enterprises (LBEs), Local Small Business Enterprises (LSBEs), Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise (DVBEs), and other business enterprises met with select firms at today's Business Matchmaking Forum, held at The Proud Bird Restaurant, next to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The forum provided businesses of many different types with chances to meet one-on-one with prime contractors working on LAX's largest capital improvement projects, some of which are already underway. Prime contractors used the opportunity to meet with nearly 1,000 local businesses in attendance.

(Los Angeles, CA) In honor of LGBTQ Heritage Month, and in celebration of this weekend’s 2018 Los Angeles Pride Parade, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will be changing its iconic pylons to red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, the colors of the pride rainbow flag. LAWA also updated the icons on the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY) social media accounts to reflect support for Pride Month.     

(Los Angeles, CA) Today, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) joined with United Airlines and Fly Humboldt to celebrate the launch of United Airlines new nonstop service from Humboldt County to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAWA staff members were on hand on hand to welcome the first group of passengers flying in from Humboldt County Airport (ACV) and provide them with gift bags to commemorate United's inaugural flight from ACV to LAX on this service.

Construction is expected to begin this fall. The project kick-off follows the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners' (BOAC) recent approval of the largest tenant improvement award in its history, which cleared the way for the Delta Sky Way at LAX to begin.
